Gas vs Wood-Fired Pizza Oven: Which Should You Choose?

A practical comparison of convenience, heat management, flavor expectations, maintenance and outdoor cooking style.
The short answer
Gas and wood can both produce excellent pizza. The better choice depends on how you want to cook. Gas reduces fire-management work and makes repeatable sessions easier; wood turns heat management into part of the experience.
Convenience and control
A gas oven is attractive when you want a quick start, a controllable flame and fewer variables between pizzas. A wood-fired oven asks you to build and maintain a fire, manage embers and learn how flame position affects the dome and floor.
Flavor and technique
At pizza-baking temperatures, bake times are short. Fuel is only one part of the result: dough formulation, fermentation, floor temperature, top heat and turning technique matter enormously.
Which format fits you?
Choose gas when frequency and convenience are priorities. Choose wood when tending a live fire is part of what you enjoy. If you genuinely want both experiences, a dual-fuel design may be the more logical route.
